About Attorney Daniel A. Hannan

Since graduating from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1988, I have been passionately advocating for fair and just practices in employment law for employers and employees.

A Genuine Concern For My Clients

As an attorney with 30 years of experience focused in employment law issues, I can readily understand the parameters of an employment issue and skillfully guide you to resolution. I am invested in your success because I work one-on-one with you. I know that when you are embroiled in a legal or work issue, it can take a psychological toll. I understand what you are going through and what a lawsuit can mean to you personally or to your business. I also understand that legal matters can take you away from your work. I will focus on your case so that you can focus on your job.

I am a sole practitioner. This means you will never be handed off to a junior associate. Your calls and emails will always be answered by me, usually the same day.

A Strong, Solid Employment History

After law school, I had the honor of working as an attorney, as a federal law clerk in federal court, for the Honorable Judge Alex T. Howard, Jr., then the Honorable Judge Daniel Thomas and then the Honorable Richard W. Vollmer, Jr. After three years of federal courtroom experience under three federal judges, I began working at one of the most prestigious Labor and Employment law firms in the nation. I have a vast and broad understanding of employment law. I have unique insights into how the court system works and how judges make decisions. As the result of more than 30 years of experience, I understand legal issues from both the employer and employee points of view, and from the perspective of a judge.

I have helped many clients attain their goals and find resolutions through settlements and verdicts.

Controlling Your Destiny

I started my own firm in 1993 because I wanted to control my own destiny. I knew I had something to contribute. I wanted not only to be accessible and available to my clients but also to be able to sustain these relationships. I know that both employers and employees want to have control over their business and work lives. I listen to you — to understand what is important and then assess how I can help.

Giving Back To My Community

I have been happily married to my wife, Jamie, for more than 20 years and we have a son, Alex, who is the light of our lives. I believe in giving back to the community. I was a scout leader in the Boy Scouts of America, served on the American Heart Association board of directors, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society board of directors, the Mobile Fair Housing Center board of directors, the Alabama Lacrosse Association board of directors and the Mobile Youth Lacrosse League board of directors. I was active in legal services, the Pro Bono Program, and I support Veterans Recovery Resources. I taught at Spring Hill College and coach youth lacrosse.

Serving Clients All Over The Country

I am licensed in Georgia and Alabama and frequently represent clients in Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery. By filing a pro hac vice motion I am able to represent clients in any federal court in the country. Although my focus is employment law for both employers and employees, I also handle federal and state criminal defense cases.
